WEBRO Cable and Connectors has completed an expansion worth £500,000 at its Long Eaton headquarters.
The result is a 40% increase in floor space and potential new jobs at the UK's largest distributor of co-axial cables, which recently won contracts to supply cable and connectors to Wembley Stadium, the London Underground, Highways Agency and the London Olympics.
The new Webro facility at the Meadow Brooks Business Park now covers 2,700 sq metres encompassing extended office space and a larger warehouse.
Managing director Roger Webster said: "The factory extension was very much an efficiency move for us.
"We used to have to spend hundreds of pounds each month storing our pallets off-site but now we have our own factory space we can store everything securely ourselves and reduce our overheads and transportation costs.
The firm has experienced a 20% increase in turnover in the past 12 months thanks to the continued upgrading of CAI- (Confederation of Aerial Industries) approved copper co-axial cables to meet the HD (high definition) needs and growing use of optic fibre cables.
As well as winning contracts for Wembley, the Tube and 2012 Olympics, Webro is also the sole UK supplier to Sky and is providing cabling to a number of regional television networks during the digital switchover.
The firm received strategic advice from business advisers UHY Hacker Young throughout the process.
Jeff Parr, partner at UHY Hacker Young, said: "I have worked with Roger and the Webro team for a number of years now and have seen the company grow from an industry specialist into an industry leader."
Mr Webster added: "The last few years have shown that technology moves at such a fast pace that you really don't know what is round the corner.
"Twelve months ago I would not have expected HD to be so popular.
"I am very excited about the developments to come in the next year and I hope our business will continue to grow."
