All section 12 cables satisfy the mandatory requirements of London Underground and are fully approved.
BS ISO 4589 Pt 2 Flammability Temperature Index: > 280ºC BS EN 50268 Smoke Emission (3 metre cube) and E1042 A6 Clause 3 for Toxic Fume Emission.
In addition the coaxial cables satisfy CEI IEC 332 Cat C Vertical Ladder as bunched cables, with the char height on completion of the test less than 1.5m.
Features & Benefits - Section 12 approved cables generate extremely low smoke, are non-toxic, toxic gas and halogen free in the event of a fire situation. The sheath is also UV-resistant to reduce the ageing affects of sunlight should the cable be installed above ground.
Cables for use in LUL Metro System are sub divided in to 2 main types with a new third one depending upon the environment for use.
Type 1 - For use in open locations and above ground stations.
Type 2 - For use in tunnels or Underground locations and are suitable for installation in stations covered by Section 12 of the Fire Precautions (Sub-Surface Railway Stations) Regulations 1989.
Type 3 - External use and where standing water or ducts fill with water. Due to winning the contract to supply Atkins Rail with Cable & Connectors for the upgrade and refurbishment programme, Webro was asked to produce Fire Alarm cables for use in external environments and where rain and standing water might be present.
The Fire-X 950 Fire Alarm Cables are available in external sheaths, ideal for use in ducts where standing water may be present.
