Oil and Gas platforms are some of the most challenging cable applications in the world. Before they are approved, cables are subject to the most rigorous testing.

All TKF cables are manufactured to international marine specifications, winning American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas  and Det Norske Veritas approvals.

Submarine cable connection

Here is a recent case study of a submarine application...

The island of Vlieland off the Netherlands coast required 37.5 km of 3 x 240mm² 12/20kV cable with submarine armouring to connect to the mainland at Harlingen.

A special test programme for torque, tensile strength and sea water resistance was set up and type testing of cables and enclosures was completed before installation.

The project required the transportation of 25 reels, 4m in height and 25 tonnes each to Harlingen.

4 special cradles were produced containing 9km of cable and weighing 200 tonnes each with supervision of civil works and cable laying.

Subsea connections and the connections to substations both on the main land and the island were all completed and handed over to the clients satisfaction.
