A recent report from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) shows that the telecoms industry is the UK’s fastest growing sector for research spending.

The ONS report shows that the amount of funding available for research and development in the telecoms industry increased by over 25% between 2017 and 2018, although the sector is still some way from the high point of its spending, set in 2007.

The increased research and development funding is important as the UK telecoms industry faces some challenges in the next few years, including the planned ‘copper switch-off’, which would see much of the UK’s existing telecoms infrastructure replaced with fibre by 2033. The NHS plans to adopt full fibre connectivity sooner, with approximately 70% of NHS organisations fibre connected by 2020.

The Webro data and telecoms range is ideal for data and voice and includes a wide variety of cables and connectivity products, including Cat5e/6/6a twisted pair, Belden equivalents, and BT & CW telecoms cables. We also stock fibre cables from 1-912 fibres in both tight buffered and loose tube construction, as well as a range of connectivity products. We are also Corning, Molex, KeyFibre, and Telenco distributors.
