What's Your Role At Webro?
My role is an external sales account manager that covers the south of the UK, with a remit to service existing accounts as well as develop new business and potential customers.
How many years have you been in the cable industry?
I have been in the cable industry in some shape or form for just over 22 years – with a background specialising mainly in LAN infrastructure but also covering specialised cables especially for the past 2 years at Webro.
What made you choose sales as a career path?
Sales is a ‘people’ business, and I always enjoyed the relationship building aspect of it. That combined with the challenges of achieving set goals and the rewards that brings, makes for a working day that is always changing and different from the last.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I never had a real desire to be anything in particular growing up, apart from maybe play with Kerry Dixon as Chelsea and England forward, LOL (maybe not such a good role model now in hindsight!).
What’s the best thing about working at Webro?
The people. Webro has a fantastic team ethic and a lot of great people in the company that are very knowledgeable and good at their jobs. It makes all the difference.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
I don’t have a favourite as such, I like to go somewhere different each time to try new places and explore. . . that said I do have a soft spot for Cornwall having spent many a summer there as a child. . . . . that or somewhere hot and sandy like Cyprus or Greece.
Any pets?
My daughter has a pair of pet rats and my son has an axolotl.
Favourite sports team?
Chelsea! A through and through blue. . . . bad time to post this as we are going through a rough patch!
What 3 words that best describe you?
Loyal, fun, able.
What would you do if you won big on the Lottery?
After the mansion and sports cars are bought, I would spread the wealth around family and friends and travel the world.
What’s your favourite food?
Anything with flavour and spice – Mexican or Indian.
What annoys you more than anything else?
When things break to easily or don’t do what they say they will . . . . . buy cheap buy twice I suppose.
What superpower would you like to have?
Teleportation – If I could blink and teleport to anywhere in the world in an instance, I would use it all the time. Not just to ping around the world but on a daily basis in daily life, shops, commute, meet friends – be there in one second!
What’s your favourite film, and why?
I love watching movies and have a few on the list ranging from Shawshank Redemption to Goodfellas but one that sticks with me as I loved it in my teens is Quadrophenia. (what a soundtrack).
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I like to play golf, watch football, and listen to music. I don’t get a lot of free time these days with two kids, but I try and make time for the above.
Who’s your favourite band/singer?
That’s a real tough question as I like to think I have a varied choice but if I had to narrow it down to one - I would say Paul Weller (not so much recently but his back catalogue is so good).
What’s your ‘go to’ karaoke song?
I don’t really sing Karaoke – I am sure no one wants to hear my terrible voice!
Who would you swap places with for a day, and why?
My older self – a glimpse of the future, and learn all my future mistakes to avoid . . . . and what stocks to invest heavily in.
What was your favourite subject at school, and why?
liked science at school. Always seemed a bit more exciting than the other lessons with practical experiments.
Who would be your desert island companion of choice?
Stephen Fry. Clever enough to keep us alive while we plan escape but can entertain at the same time.
What’s the best advice that you’ve ever been given?
Be yourself, if that’s not good enough for other people then their loss.
What's your favourite cable?
The bog standard Cat6 UTP LSZH – very versatile and must have sold a million miles of it!
