Our Fibre & Telecoms expert, George Dyckes answers the questions for April.

What’s your role at Webro?

Business Development Manager for the Fibre and Telecoms side of the company.

How many years have you been in the cable industry?

Twelve years in May.

What made you choose sales as your career path?

I started in the banking industry as a customer service officer, so it was the natural progression from there. I liked the social side of sales, you meet some interesting people along the road.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A Power Ranger.

What’s the best thing about working at Webro?

Working at Webro is unlike some of the other companies I’ve worked for. I’m given all of the support I need but mostly I’m allowed to get on with my job without constant distractions. It makes a massive difference to your day when you know that you have the tools to get the job done.

What will be the next important development in fibre and telecoms?

Equinox 2, it’ll have a massive impact on the industry.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

I love to go to Salcombe every summer. It’s such an incredible place to be when the weather is good.

Any pets?

I’ve got a dog and my wife has a cat… I don’t like cats!

Favourite sports team?

I just love watching sport, as long as it’s not Liverpool or Tottenham.

What 3 words that best describe you?

Terrible at golf.

What would you do if you won big on the Lottery?

How big is big? If I won enough, I’d retire and take my family travelling around the world.

What’s your favourite food?

Probably anything chocolate…

What annoys you more than anything else?

Some of the stuff I see adults doing on TikTok for likes…

What superpower would you like to have?

To fly as fast as superman…

What’s your favourite film, and why?

Step brothers… I love most of the films that Will Ferrell is in.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I like to spend time with my family, trips to the farm or Brighton Pier.

Who’s your favourite band/singer?

I don’t think I have one… my Spotify is full of musicals that my daughter likes to sing to.

What’s your ‘go to’ karaoke song?

I’d probably ‘go to’ bed if were at that point of the night.

Who would you swap places with for a day, and why?

Rory Mcilroy…Playing golf in the sun somewhere.. I’d need a few Mulligans though.

What was your favourite subject at school, and why?

I.T. I loved playing with computers.

Who would be your desert island companion of choice?

Ross Edgley, the guy is incredible… I’d learn so much from him.

What’s the best advice that you’ve ever been given?

“If you’re ever offered the chance to go on a course, take it, no matter what it is”.

What’s your favourite cable?

I should probably have one but I’m afraid I don’t.. I have a favourite child though if you’re asking?
